FitSpace Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the FitSpace mobile application ("FitSpace", "we", "us", or "our")
collects, uses, and protects your information. By creating an account and using FitSpace, you agree
to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information. When you register, we collect your email address and a securely
hashed password. You may optionally add a display name, username, and profile photo.
- Profile & onboarding details. Information you provide during setup, such as gender,
age, height/weight (used to calculate BMI), preferred sports, and general location/country.
- Fitness content. Workouts, programmes, exercise logs, scores, and any posts, comments,
or messages you create within the app.
- Health data (Apple Health / HealthKit). With your explicit permission, FitSpace reads
metrics such as steps, active energy, heart rate, and workouts from Apple Health to display your fitness
statistics, and may write workouts you complete back to Apple Health. This data is used only to provide
app features and is never used for advertising or sold to third parties.
- Location. With your permission, we use your device location to support location-based
features such as finding nearby gyms and tracking outdoor activities.
- Photos. With your permission, we access your camera/photo library so you can set a
profile picture and share images in posts.
- Usage & device data. Basic device information needed to operate the app reliably.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To provide core features: workout programmes, statistics, achievements, social posts, and messaging.
- To display health and activity insights you have chosen to share.
- To maintain the security, integrity, and performance of the app.
3. Apple Health (HealthKit) Data
FitSpace's use of HealthKit data complies with Apple's requirements. Health information accessed through
HealthKit is used solely to provide health and fitness features within the app. We do not use HealthKit
data for marketing or advertising, and we do not disclose it to third parties for those purposes. You can
revoke FitSpace's access to Health data at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
4. How Your Information Is Stored
Your account and app content are stored using Supabase, our backend and database provider,
which hosts data on secure cloud infrastructure protected by access controls and row-level security.
Health data read from Apple Health remains on your device unless a specific feature you use requires
processing it to provide a result.
5. Third-Party Services
FitSpace relies on a small number of third-party services to function:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- Google Maps / Places — to power the gym-finder map and location search.
- OpenAI — to generate personalised workout programmes from the preferences you provide.
These providers process data only as needed to deliver their respective features.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. Content you choose to make public within the app (such as posts,
comments, or your public profile) is visible to other FitSpace users. We may disclose information if
required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and service.
7. Your Rights & Choices
- You can edit your profile information at any time within the app.
- You can revoke Health, Location, Camera, and Photo permissions in your device Settings.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see below). We will
delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
8. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove
your personal data from our active systems, subject to legal retention obligations.
9. Children's Privacy
FitSpace is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us
with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the
"Last updated" date at the top of this page.
