FitSpace Privacy Policy

Effective date: 6 July 2026

FitSpace ("FitSpace", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") is a personal fitness companion for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the EU GDPR, and Apple's App Store requirements.

The app is operated by Kamal Ameen-Ali, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK/EU data protection law, we act as the data controller for the personal data described below.

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at: kamal_ali97@hotmail.co.uk.

1. Summary

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and authentication information

2.2 Profile and onboarding details

2.3 Fitness content you create

2.4 Social and messaging content

FitSpace includes optional social features. If you use them, we store:

Content you post publicly (posts, comments, username, profile photo) can be seen by other users of the app.

2.5 Apple Health (HealthKit) data — optional

If you grant permission, FitSpace reads the following from Apple Health to display your fitness metrics in the app:

Health data is used only to show you your own metrics and progress inside the app. In line with Apple's rules, we do not use Health data for advertising or marketing, and we do not sell it or share it with data brokers. You can grant or revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

2.6 Location data — optional

If you grant permission, FitSpace uses your device location to track outdoor workouts (such as running and cycling) and to help set your general location/country. You can change or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings.

2.7 Camera and photo library — optional

With your permission, FitSpace accesses your camera and photo library so you can take or choose a profile photo, add images to posts and messages, and save workout summaries to your photos.

2.8 Subscription and purchase data

When you purchase a Premium subscription, the transaction is handled by Apple's In-App Purchase system and managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (for example, whether Premium is active and when it expires). Your RevenueCat customer identifier is set to your FitSpace user ID so your subscription can be matched to your account. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled by Apple.

2.9 Advertising data

FitSpace shows rewarded ads via Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google's SDK may collect device identifiers and usage/interaction data. See Section 6 for detail.

2.10 Data stored on your device

Some data (such as preferences and cached content) is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms. This stays on your device unless it is synced to your account.

3. How We Use Your Information

5. AI Workout-Programme Generation (OpenAI)

When you ask FitSpace to generate a workout programme, your questionnaire answers — such as your fitness goals, experience level, training schedule, available equipment, and any injuries or limitations you enter — are sent to OpenAI through our secure server (a Supabase Edge Function) to produce your programme. This request is used solely to generate your programme. We do not send your name, email, or Apple Health data to OpenAI for this purpose.

6. Advertising and Identifiers

The free tier of FitSpace shows rewarded ads provided by Google AdMob. To deliver these ads, Google's SDK may collect and process:

This data may be used by Google for advertising, including measuring ad performance and, where permitted, showing more relevant ads.

App Tracking Transparency (ATT). Apple requires apps that track you across other companies' apps and websites to ask permission first. FitSpace does not currently present an ATT prompt, so where required ads are served on a non-personalised / limited basis. Premium subscribers do not see ads.

You can limit ad tracking on your device at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.

For more on how Google uses data from apps that use its services, see Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

7. Children's Privacy

FitSpace is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, which may be higher — for example 13–16 in parts of the UK/EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at kamal_ali97@hotmail.co.uk and we will delete it.

8. Data Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. In addition:

9. Your Rights and Account Deletion

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account from within the app at any time. When you do, your profile and associated data — including posts, comments, likes, follows, messages, workouts, and programmes — are permanently deleted from our database. Some data held by third parties (for example, Apple's record of your purchases) is governed by those providers' own policies.

Your data protection rights (UK/EU GDPR)

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at kamal_ali97@hotmail.co.uk.

10. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and database access controls (row-level security) that restrict data access to authorised users. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

11. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may process and store data on servers located outside the UK/EU (for example, in the United States). Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms as required by UK/EU data protection law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of FitSpace after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
